Freeman, May Sweep USA South Weekly Golf Awards

Fayetteville, N.C. - The USA South has released its weekly golf honors for October 23rd, and the Battling Bishops scored a sweep of the awards. Junior Chris Freeman was tabbed the league's Golfer of the Week, while freshman teammate Matthew May was named Rookie of the Week.

Golfer of the Week
Chris Freeman, N.C. Wesleyan - The junior from Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina finished tied for eighth at the Ted Keller Memorial in Ashland, Virginia last week by shooting an eight-over par 148. In the two-day event, Freeman opened with a ten-over par 80 and finished with a two-under par 68, which was the low round of the tourney. His performance helped the Bishops to a tie for third place team finish.

Golf Rookie of the Week
Matthew May, N.C. Wesleyan - The freshman from Spring Hope, North Carolina finished tied for 18th at the Ted Keller Memorial by shooting a 13-over par 153. May opened with a nine-over par 79 on Sunday and finished with a four-over par 74 on Monday, helping the Bishops climb four spots in the final standings.
