Freeman Paces NCWC Golfers in Pair of Dual Wins

Myrtle Beach, S.C. - Junior Chris Freeman recorded two rounds of 78 to help his North Carolina Wesleyan golf team turn in a pair of dual wins over Muhlenberg College on Tuesday and Wednesday at Myrtle Beach's Barefoot Landing Resort.

On Tuesday, the two squads battled it out at the Resort's par-72 Dye course. Freeman was bested only by junior teammate Lucas Norman, who captured medalist honors with a 1-over 73. Senior Allen-Michael Wilson finished third with a round of 82, while sophomore Tommy Nakamura's 84 secured a 317 team score for the Bishops. Muhlenberg carded a 350 team score on the day.

Wednesday saw the two teams take to the greens again, this time playing the Resort's par-71 Fazio course. Battling rainy conditions throughout the day, Muhlenberg's Chris Lucarelli turned in a round-best 76 to finish in first place at 5-over.

For Wesleyan, Freeman and Nakamura took second and third at 78 and 83, respectively, while Wilson and Norman carded an 84 and 85 to help NCWC to a 330 team score and a 10-stroke win. Also competing for a second straight day were junior Stephen Bardswick and freshman Matthew May, whose best rounds came with a day-two 86 and 93.

Next up for the Battling Bishops is their annual Don Scalf Invitational slated for March 16th and 17th at Rocky Mount's Belmont Lake Golf Club.
