NCWC Cards 8th-Place Finish at Barton Intercollegiate

Wilson, N.C. - The Battling Bishop golf team of N.C. Wesleyan carded an 8th-place finish at this week's Barton Intercollegiate, a two-day event held at the par-72 Wilson Country Club. The field featured 59 golfers among 11 institutions and saw Wesleyan post team rounds of 337 and 307.

Leading the way for NCWC was freshman David White. White turned in a team-best round of 73 in Tuesday's final round -- a 9-stroke improvement from his opening round 82. His two-day total of 155 tied for 17th in the tourney overall.

Finishing behind White were Ben Gillon, Tommy Nakamura and Michael Madden, who tied for 32nd, 35th and 37th, respectively. Gillon carded rounds of 82 and 80, while Nakamua and Madden shot a 75 and 79 in the final rounds, helping the Bishops shave 30 strokes off their day-one team score.

Medalist honors went to Belmont-Abbey's Tyler Satorius with rounds of 72 and 70 (-2). His team also secured top-billing with sub-300 scores of 298 and 294.

Wesleyan returns to the course on March 27th at the highly-competitive FCU Marine Intercollegiate held at Camp LeJeune Golf Course in Jacksonville.
