Wesleyan Golf Sits in 4th after Round 1; Anderson & Silvestri Named to All-Conference Teams

LAGRANGE, Ga. - The NC Wesleyan men's golf team is currently sitting in fourth place after the first round of the USA South Championships at the Highland Country Club in LaGrange, Ga.

The Bishops are being led by senior Mariano Silvestri's -2 under par 70 as he sits in 8th place. The Bishops, as a team shot a +4 over par 292, 15 shots back of first place Huntingdon.

Fellow senior Grady Anderson also played well shooting an even par 72 to sit in a tie for 14th after round one. Junior Dustin Wood is then just one stroke back in 20th place after a first round 73.

Freshman Frankie Schmitt then shot a day one 77 to sit in 33rd place while junior Luke Thornton sits in 40th with his first round 79 (+7).

The USA South has also announced their All-Conference Golf teams this week as well led by two Bishop seniors. Anderson was selected to the First Team while Silvestri was named to the Second Team.

Dustin Wood was also named to the All-Sportsmanship team.

The Golfers will tee off tomorrow morning at 9:00 AM in round two.
