Harrington Leads Bishop Golf at Hampden-Sydney

FARMVILLE, Va. - The NC Wesleyan College golf team placed 8th out of 11 schools at the Hampden-Sydney College Spring Tournament on Saturday and Sunday in Virginia.

Freshman Aidan Harrington led the Bishops with a season-high 7th place finish overall after shooting two sub-80 rounds of 6-over 78 and an impressive 1-over 73 on Sunday for a 7-over 151.

Wesleyan as a team, shot a 323 in round one Saturday and then improved by ten shots on Sunday in round two to shoot a 313, which was the 5th-best team round of the day. Host HSC and Piedmont tied for the team title with scores of 612 while Wesleyan finished at 636.

Sophomore Santiago Larumbe then placed next for the Bishops finishing in 26th place after rounds of 82 and 77 for a 15-over 159. Freshman Lucas Perez then placed next in 34th overall after shooting rounds of 84 and 79 for a 163. 

Freshman Myles Patterson then came in 45th place overall with rounds of 79 and 87 for a 166. Fellow freshman Matt Coltren then came next placing 51st after shooting consecutive rounds of 84 for a 168. Finally, transfer Brycen Swain played as an individual and shot rounds of 84 and 86 for a 170 to place 56th overall out of 68 golfers.

The golf team will next be in action this coming weekend when they head down to Camp Lejeune, NC for the Camp Lejeune Intercollegiate.
