White, Wolf Highlight Soccer All-Conference Nods

Fayetteville, N.C. - The USA South Athletic Conference has announced its 2011 All-Conference awards for men's soccer. A total of 40 student-athletes were named to the All-Conference teams with North Carolina Wesleyan boasting ten honorees. Seniors Owen White and Justin Wolf highlighted Wesleyan's selections as First Team picks.

White picked up the third All-Conference nod of his career, having previously earned Second Team honors on two occasions. The senior captain from Stockton, England currently leads the team with eight goals and five assists for 21 total points, which ranks fourth in the league. Wolf, a senior defender from Pasadena, Md., joined him as a First Team pick, marking the first All-Conference recognition of his career.

The Bishops had three players garner Second Team status, led by freshman forward Omar Kanten who has tallied eight goals thusfar. Junior Vinnie De La Cueva was chosen in the midfield after recording a pair of goals and four assists, while junior keeper Alberto Faisca was selected in goal. Faisca has posted a 5-2-4 record with four shutouts this season and leads the conference in save percentage (.862). 

Midfielders Ritchie Duffie and Adama George, along with defenders Robert Bass and Arna Einarsson, were named to the Honorable Mention squad, while sophomore Julian Mingo-Gonzalez was the Bishops' representative on the All-Sportsmanship Team.

Elsewhere, Christopher Newport's Brian Lybert was named the Player of the Year while his coach, Steve Shaw earned Coach of the Year honors. Methodist's Eirik Nordseth was named Rookie of the Year.
