Wesleyan Men Fall at Averett in League Play, 2-0

Danville, Va. - Despite holding a 15-13 advantage in shots, the North Carolina Wesleyan men's soccer team fell to Averett University, 2-0, on Saturday afternoon in Danville.

The Cougars struck within the first two minutes of the match as Benjy Slator found Adil Iich to net the first goal. The 1-0 score held for the remainder of the period, and the Bishops proceeded to play the Cougars tight for most of the second. Iich, however, slipped another goal by NCWC's Richard Kandarczyk in the 71st minute to secure the 2-0 final.

Kandarczyk finished with five saves on the day, while AU keeper Martin Erenstedt managed four stops.

The Bishops (5-8-2, 3-4 USA South) return to Scalf Field Saturday for a 3:30pm kickoff with league foe Huntingdon College.
