NCWC Season Ends with 1-0 Tourney Loss to Scots

Maryville, Tenn. - The men's soccer team of North Carolina Wesleyan saw its 2013 season come to an end on Saturday night at Maryville College, as the 6th-seeded Bishops fell to the 3rd-seeded Scots by a 1-0 score in USA South Tournament first round action.

Wesleyan out-shot MVC 5-4 in the first half, but neither team would crack the scoreboard en route to a scoreless tie at the break.

In the second half, the two teams seemed destined for overtime until the Scots' Conner McCarty broke through with an unassisted score in the 78th minute. Maryville proceeded to fight off a trio of Bishop cornerkicks in the final ten minutes to secure the victory and advance to semifinal play in Martinsville, Va. next weekend.

The Bishops end the season with a 7-9-2 overall record.
