Rocky Mount, N.C. - The Battling Bishop men's soccer team wrapped up its weekend play on Saturday with a 2-2 tie versus perennial powerhouse York College at Scalf Field. The draw came on the heels of a tough 4-3 road loss to 17th-ranked Christopher Newport on the road Friday. Wesleyan is now 2-1-1 to start the season.

Versus York, freshman Julius Oskarsson gave his Bishops an early 1-0 lead with an unassisted goal in the 11th minute, but the Spartans managed to sneak one in off a corner kick at 33:48 for a 1-1 halftime score.

While neither team could find the net through the first 44 minutes of the second half, Oskarsson erased a 1-1 tie with less than a minute left in regulation to give the Bishops a 2-1 advantage that most thought would stand.  York's Joel Teston, however, netted the equalizer just 11 seconds later to send the the match into overtime.  The 11 seconds between goals is tied for fifth all-time in the NCAA for fastest goals by opposing teams.

The two squads proceeded to fight through a two scoreless overtimes to secure the draw.

Previously on Friday, it was a tale of two halves at Christopher Newport. The Captains raced out to a 4-0 lead in the opening period thanks, in part, to a Jalon Brown hat trick. The second half, however, was all Bishops as sophomore Thorfinnur Thorfinnsson recorded a pair of assists on Matt Moore and Oskarsson tallies in the 47th and 70th minutes.

Freshman Charles Chapin later made it 4-3 with his first collegiate goal at the 80:17 mark off a Daniel Kamdem assist. Unfortunately, NCWC was unable to notch the equalizer before time expired.

Keepers Jesper Olsson and Alex Magner split time in goal over the two matches, combining for eight saves.

Wesleyan returns to action at Scalf Field on Wednesday with a 4:00pm match-up with Guilford College.
