Fayetteville, N.C. - The USA South has released its weekly awards for September 21st, and for the first time this season, N.C. Wesleyan's Anthon Appelquist has been tabbed the league's Rookie of the Week in men's soccer.
Appelquist, a freshman midfielder from Vallentuna, Sweden, tallied two goals and one assist as the Bishops posted a 1-1 record last week. In a 2-0 loss to Mary Washington, Applequist was held scoreless, but in a 5-2 win at USA South foe Piedmont, he netted the equalizer and eventual gamewinner, his first two collegiate goals, while also assisting on the team's first tally of the match.
