MISENHEIMER, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan College men's soccer team shut out Pfeiffer University 1-0 on the road for their second straight victory on Saturday.

After outshooting the Falcons 11-6 in a scoreless first half, junior defender Jack Holden got the Bishops on the board just 6 minutes into the second half in the 51st minute. His unassisted goal gave Wesleyan the lead and would be all the goals they would need on this day.

Wesleyan would go on to outshoot Pfeiffer again in the second half 8-3 to win the shot count 19-9 overall led by four shots apiece from midfielders Juan Simoniello and Lucas Wittstatt.

Freshman goalkeeper Matteo Torchio then completed the shutout by saving all five shots he faced.

With their win, Wesleyan improves to 2-1 in the USA South while Pfeiffer falls to 1-2 overall.

Torchio and Holden will next lead the Bishops into a non-conference tilt against D-1 foe College of Charleston on Wednesday at 6:00 PM.
