Lookout Mtn. / Demorest, Ga. - The North Carolina Wesleyan men's tennis team is back in the ITA's national rankings, coming in at #25 in the organization's latest poll released on Thursday. The Bishops celebrated the news with a trio of 9-0 sweeps over the weekend versus USA South foes Covenant, Piedmont and Maryville.

In all three matches, second-year head coach Andres Amores went with his usual doubles tandems of Robert Kjellberg/Sebastian Sikh at #1, Fernando Nardelli/Eduardo Ugalde at #2 and Fabio Pereira/Andres Gomez at #3. The Bishops out-scored their opponents 72-10 in doubles play over the two-day span.

Singles play saw Pereira, Nardelli, Gomez and Ugalde move up two positions from their usual spots to anchor the top four seeds, respectively, versus Covenant and Piedmont. Mark Sokolov and Ben Tolhurst played the 5th and 6th seeds in those two matches, while the duo moved up one seed versus Maryville to make room for Carlos Pardi at the 6th position. All 18 singles wins came in straight sets.

The victories capped an exciting week for the Bishops, who continue to turn heads at both the national and regional levels.

In addition to Wesleyan's national ranking, the Bishops also came in at #6 in the Atlantic South Region. Individually, Kjellberg boasts a #4 regional ranking in singles play, as well as a #4 ranking in doubles action alongside Sikh, who is ranked #10 in singles.

Wesleyan is now 9-4 overall, 7-0 in the USA South. The Bishops will face 2nd-ranked Emory on Wednesday in a 3:00pm match played at Winthrop University.
