Wesleyan Tennis Wins 7th-Straight Tournament Crown

Rocky Mount, N.C. - The 2015 USA South Men's Tennis Tournament concluded on Sunday, April 19th, with top-seeded N.C. Wesleyan taking home the championship. The Battling Bishops defeated 2nd-seeded Methodist by an 8-1 score to earn their seventh consecutive tournament crown and NCAA berth. Wesleyan had previously knocked off 4th-seeded Piedmont in a 9-0 sweep on Saturday to reach the title match.

At #1 singles and doubles, senior Robert Kjellberg won each of his four matches in the tourney en route to Most Valuable Player honors. Freshmen Fabio Pereira, Fernando Nardelli and Andres Gomez also went undefeated in tournament play, along with junior Eduardo Ugalde.

For their efforts, a trio of Bishops joined Kjellberg on the All-Tournament team.

Wesleyan will face Johns Hopkins at the University of Mary Washington next Saturday at 11:00am. The match will serve as NCWC's final tune-up prior to the NCAA Tournament, which will announce its seeding the following week.
