Bishops Capture 10th Straight Title, 100th Straight USA South Win

Danville, Va. - A decade of perfection! On Sunday, the N.C. Wesleyan men's tennis team swept Averett University by a 9-0 score to capture the program's 10th straight USA South Regular Season Championship. Sunday's victory over the Cougars also marked Wesleyan's 100th straight win over league competition since 2009 (including the conference tournament). Both are noteworthy milestones for the 24th-ranked Bishops, who are currently riding a 13-match winning streak.

Versus the Cougars (11-5, 6-3 USA South), the Bishops wasted little time pulling away for the historic win. Doubles play saw the duos of Ioannis Brokakis/Roberto Puig, Sebastian Sikh/David Chang, and Aditya Iyer/J.D. Telles cruise to 8-6, 8-5, and 8-2 wins, respectively. All six went on to secure wins in singles action, led by Sikh's lone three-setter at the top seed (3-6, 6-0, 6-2).

The Bishops are now 16-3 overall and finish league play with a perfect 10-0 record. Perhaps most impressively, Wesleyan did not surrender a single point to any of its USA South opponents this season, out-scoring league foes 90-0 in regular season conference matches.

Wesleyan will now travel to LaGrange, Georgia next weekend for the 2018 USA South Tournament. Please continue to check www.ncwcsports.com for updated tourney information, including opponents, seeding, and match times.
