Men's Tennis Rookie of the Week
Jhonny Acosta, N.C. Wesleyan - The freshman from Ita, Paraguay has earned a 3-0 singles record and a 1-1 doubles mark to begin the spring season for the Battling Bishops. The victories in singles came at the number-three and number-five spots over opponents from Shaw, Barton and Mary Washington. In doubles, he teamed with sophomore Aditya Iyer to gain a win over Shaw at the number-three posititon. Acosta beat out two other nominees.

Women's Tennis Rookie of the Week
Fariza Abdulloeva, N.C. Wesleyan - The freshman from Samarkland, Uzbekistan earned victories at both the number-one singles and doubles positions last week in the team's only match. The victories came over opponents from Division II Shaw as she teamed with sophomore Talitha Rowan for the doubles win. She beat out three other nominees for the award.

The Wesleyan tennis teams are next in play this Friday as the men (3-1) go on the road to challenge CNU (Va.) at 5 PM and Johns Hopkins on Saturday at 3 PM while returning home Sunday to host West Va. Wesleyan at approx. 4 PM while the women (1-0) next return home on Tuesday at 2 pm to host Mount Olive.
