Men's Tennis Cruises Past Rival Methodist

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan College men's tennis team cruised to a big conference win over rival Methodist University 9-0 at home on Saturday.

The #1 Doubles pairing of Giannis Brokakis and Roberto Puig dominated 8-2 while the #2 team of junior Ingmar Remmerswaal and freshman Jhonny Acosta then won 8-6 before the #3 team of junior Jesus Gil and sophomore Aditya Iyer won 8-5 to give the Bishops a 3-0 lead early.

Puig then cruised in #1 singles 6-1, 6-1 while Gil and Acosta also routed their foes in #5 and #6 singles respectively. Iyer edged his foe 6-4, 6-4 in #2 singles while senior J.D. Telles won 6-2, 6-1 in #3 singles. Freshman Juan Vallejo also won 6-3, 6-4 in #4 singles to cap off the shutout.

Wesleyan improves to 10-1 and 2-0 in the conference with the win while Methodist falls to 4-8 and 0-1.

The Bishops are back in action on Tuesday at D-2 Chowan at 2 PM.
