Men's Tennis Falls 4-3 at Chowan

MURFREESBORO, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan College men's tennis team suffered their second loss of the season on Tuesday falling 4-3 to Div. II Chowan University on the road.

The men won both of their doubles matches to lead it off vs. the Hawks. The #1 doubles pairing of Ingmar Remmerswaal and Jhonny Acosta won the first match 6-4 before the #2 doubles team of Aditya Iyer and freshman Juan Vallejo won 6-2. The #3 doubles team of seniors JD Telles and Giannis Brokakis then won by default.

In singles, the Bishops were led by a win from Vallejo at #5 singles as he cruised 6-1, 6-1. However, Chowan won the other 4 singles matches to clinch the 7 point D-2 matchup. Suffering tough three-set losses were Telles at #4 singles (3-6, 6-3, 3-6) and sophomore Roberto Puig at #2 singles (4-6, 6-4, 2-6).

The men fall to 12-2 overall while Chowan improves to 5-9. The Bishops are back in action on Saturday at Pfeiffer in a conference DH at 11:00 AM.
