#24 Men's Tennis Defeats #28 TCNJ

EWING, N.J. - The 24th ranked NC Wesleyan College Men's tennis team went on the road Sunday to defeat 28th ranked College of New Jersey 7-2 to improve to 17-2 on the season. TCNJ falls to 10-2.

Wesleyan's #3 doubles team of senior J.D. Telles and freshman Juan Vallejo got the Bishops started off on the right foot winning 8-4. The #2 doubles pairing of junior Ingmar Remmerswaal / and freshman Jhonny Acosta then won a thrilling tiebreaker 7-2 to win 8-7 and give the Bishops a 2-0 lead. the top doubles team of senior Giannis Brokakis and sophomore Roberto Puig then suffered a hard-luck defeat falling 8-7 and 7-4 in the tiebreaker.

In singles play, Wesleyan received wins from Brokakis (7-6, 6-4) and Puig (6-2, 6-3) at the top two slots, and big wins from the freshmen duo of Vallejo (6-2, 6-2) and Acosta at 3 and 4 singles with Acosta's 6-1, 7-5 win clinching the match. Telles then finished off the victories with a thrilling 3-set win at #5 singles winning 10-4 in the tiebreaker after splitting the first two sets 6-4.

The Bishops return to action by hosting Averett on Thursday at 4:00 PM.
