ATLANTA, Ga. - The 23rd ranked and 3rd seeded NC Wesleyan College Men's Tennis team rallied from a 3-1 deficit to come back and outlast the Tigers of Sewanee University (TN) on Friday afternoon in the South Regional semifinals of the NCAA Div. III Tournament at Emory.

The men improve to 22-2 on the season and now advance to the Regional Final (Sweet 16) on Saturday at 2:30 pm to face 3rd ranked and top seeded Emory University.

Senior 19th ranked Giannis Brokakis clinched the win for the Bishops at #1 singles as he ran away with the final set 6-1 to take the match in 3 sets (6-2, 5-7, 6-1). Wesleyan officially won 4 of 5 singles matches while sophomore Aditya Iyer was winning 5-0 in the third set of his match which would have made the score 6-3 Bishops. Iyer won a momentum-changing 7-6 second set of his match as well.

After the men won just one of three doubles matches to trail 2-1, Sewanee (22-7) extended their lead to 3-1 with a 6-1, 6-3 win at #4 singles. However, senior J.D. Telles then started the Bishops' 4 match win streak by taking the #6 singles match 6-2, 6-3 before freshman Jhonny Acosta tied the bout at 3 with his 6-3, 6-1 win at #5 singles. 20th ranked sophomore Roberto Puig then gave the Bishops their first lead at 4-3 with his straight set win at #2 singles (6-4, 6-3).

Telles and junior doubles specialist Ingmar Remmerswaal got Wesleyan on the board early with an 8-5 win at #3 doubles while Brokakis and Puig lost a heartbreaking 8-7 match at #1 doubles falling 10-8 in the tiebreaker.
