Men's Tennis Sweeps Non-Conf. DH at Methodist

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan College men's tennis team swept both of their non-conference "B" team matches against rival Methodist University on the road Tuesday afternoon. Wesleyan edged the Monarchs 5-4 in the first match and won 8-1 in the second.

In the first match, Wesleyan had an 8-2 win in doubles from the #2 team of sophomores Matan Amitay and Tshepo Mosarwa and an 8-4 win in #3 doubles from freshmen Andrea Fanzaga and Joaquin Micheloni.

In the singles, Wesleyan received wins from Fanzaga at #5 singles (6-1, 6-2), sophomore Thato Holmes at #4 singles (6-2, 7-6) and freshman Vittorio Noli at #6 singles (6-4, 6-4). Junior Max Robinson then suffered a heartbreaking defeat at the third line in the match falling 3-6, 7-5, 8-10. He and Holmes also fell 8-7 at the top doubles line as well.

In the second match, NCWC received wins in doubles from the #2 team of Noli and junior Ignacio Alia 8-7 and the #3 team of freshmen Franco Milivinti and Gustavo Rivas 8-0.

Wesleyan then swept all six singles matches led by sophomore Angel Vazquez at the top line winning 7-5, 6-0 while Micheloni, Amitay, Alia, Milivinti, and Rivas all won easily in straight sets.

The Bishops improve to 12-2 on the season with the wins and next return to action on Saturday to host CNU at 2 PM.
