Men's Tennis Dominates Averett

DANVILLE, Va. - The NC Wesleyan College men's tennis team rolled to a 9-0 road win over conference foe Averett University on Wednesday afternoon.

Wesleyan was led in doubles by the junior pair of ITA National Player of the Week Juan Vallejo and former National Player of the Week Jhonny Acosta as they won 8-4 at the top line. The pairing of senior Roberto Puig and freshman John Falke then dominated to win 8-1 at the 2 line while the third pairing of junior Max Robinson and sophomore Tshepo Mosarwa won 8-4.

Puig then won 6-3, 6-2 at the top line while Acosta won his bout 6-4, 6-1 at the third line over his fomer teammate, Stan Martherus. Falke then won 6-2, 6-2 at the 4 line while Vallejo was leading 6-1, 4-3 before his opponent retired. Roca took his bout 6-4, 6-3 at the 5th line and Mosarwa finished it off 6-1, 6-1 at the six line as Averett fell to 5-5 overall and 2-1 in the East Division.

The Bishops improve to 15-2 on the season and 2-0 in the conference and next return to action on April 17 vs. Methodist, but still have makeup games with Pfeiffer and William Peace to be scheduled as well.
