Bishop Women Drop Pair of League Road Matches

Lookout Mountain, Ga. - The North Carolina Wesleyan women's soccer team dropped two USA South matches this weekend, falling 2-0 to Piedmont College on Friday and 1-0 to Covenant College on Saturday. Wesleyan held two of the top four teams in the league to just three total goals, but the Bishops were unable to generate any offense of their own en route to the pair of tough losses.

On Friday, the Bishops held the Lions scoreless for the first 60 minutes of the match before Piedmont's Laura Goodwin would trickle in a goal for the eventual gamewinner. The Lions (10-1-1, 5-0-1 USA South) added an insurance goal just five minutes later on a header by Megan Hatfield off a Goodwin corner.

The Bishop defense continued its solid play on Saturday, holding the Scots of Covenant (7-7-1, 5-2-1 USA South) to just one goal. The score came in the 46th minute on a through ball from Rachel Buys to Bethany Logan. The Scots held a slim 12-8 advantage in shots, with each team managing five shots-on-goal.

The Bishops (4-8, 1-6 USA South) return to league play on Saturday for their Think Pink game as they host the Pacers of William Peace. Kickoff is at 2:00pm.
