NCWC Women Post 3-1 USA South Victory at Ferrum

Ferrum, Va. - The Battling Bishop women's soccer team posted a 3-1 USA South victory at Ferrum College on Saturday afternoon. Wesleyan got scores from senior Rebecca Staylor, freshman Julia Rebellon and sophomore Logan Bill en route to the team's sixth win of the season. Rebellon's goal in the 34th minute proved to be the eventual gamewinner.

Staylor got Wesleyan on the board with an unassisted score at the 11:44 mark of the first half. Rebellon's score, also unassisted, made it 2-0 Bishops at the break.

The second half opened with Bill's goal in the 53rd minute off a Staylor assist. Wesleyan looked poised to post a shutout, but the Panthers' Meghin Martin got her team on the board with just 24 seconds remaining to seal the 3-1 final.

NCWC held a 10-4 lead in shots and 4-1 edge in corners on the day. Freshman keeper Ashley Major make a pair of saves en route to her second win in net.

Wesleyan returns home next weekend to host a pair of key USA South match-ups. The Bishops will take on Piedmont Friday at 4:00pm, which will be followed by a tilt with Covenant Saturday at 4:00pm. Saturday will serve as Wesleyan's 2014 Parent's and Senior Day at Scalf Field, while the Bishops will be recognizing its "Tradition Never Graduates" iniative all weekend.
