USA South Announces 2014 Women's Soccer Awards

Fayetteville, N.C. - The USA South Athletic Conference has announced its 2014 All-Conference awards for women's soccer, with a total of 47 student-athletes earning recognition. North Carolina Wesleyan had five players garner accolades, led by senior Rebecca Staylor's First Team honor at forward.

Staylor picks up the third All-Conference nod of her career and is the first Bishop player since 2002 to earn First Team honors. The Virginia Beach native led the team in scoring this season with a conference-best 18 goals during the regular season, including five gamewinners. She added five assists to finish with 41 total points, which ranked second in the league overall.

She was joined on the All-Conference team by Honorable Mentions Sarah Olsowski in the midfield, Danielle Hickman at defender and Sarah Hovis at goalkeeper. Olsowski ranked second on the team with five goals to her credit, while Hickman anchored a Bishop defense that has posted nine shutouts, which includes a string of six straight heading in Friday's semifinal match-up with Methodist. Hovis has had much to do with that success, leading the entire conference with a 0.52 goals against average.

Rounding out Wesleyan's honorees was freshman Cissi Edehult as a member of the league's All-Sportsmanship squad.Elsewhere around the league, Maryville's Sierra Siegel was named the Player of the Year, and Meredith's Jaisa Loch earned Rookie of the Year accolades, while her coach, Paul Smith, collected Coach of the Year honors.
