ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan College women's soccer team suffered a tough 3-2 loss at home to rival Methodist University on Wednesday afternoon.

The Bishops got out to a quick 1-0 lead with a goal from junior midfielder Manuela Cano in the 3rd minute of play. After both teams made big saves in goal and missed some chances the rest of the half, Wesleyan would extend their lead to 2-0 with a goal from junior forward Cydney Nichols off an assist from freshman midfielder Isabel Neall just 7 seconds remaining in the half. It was Nichols' 4th goal of the season and Cano's first.

Unfortunately, the Monarchs would come back with a big second half tying the game with two goals in a span of 5 minutes midway through the second half before adding the game-winning goal in the 85th minute of action to steal a win from their archrivals.

Junior goalkeeper Alicia Jacobs ended up making 7 saves on 10 shots on goal as MU outshot the Bishops 7-2 in the second half.

Wesleyan falls to 2-6 overall and 1-1 in the East while Methodist improves to 4-4 and 1-1. The Bishops are next in action on Saturday when they head to Mary Baldwin University for a Noon kick.
