USA South Releases 50 Year Women's Tennis Team

Fayetteville, N.C. - The 2013-14 season serves as the 50th for the USA South Athletic Conference. In an effort to relive 50 Years of great student-athlete performances, each current league institution was given the opportunity to submit names of student-athletes who competed within the Conference and excelled not only on their campuses, but in the Conference as a whole. The league has continued its recognition of these teams with the sport of women's tennis, and N.C. Wesleyan is proud to have placed five Bishop players on the squad.

The Conference began sponsoring a regular season championship in the sport of women's tennis in the spring of 1982, but it wasn't until 2006 that the first Conference tournament was conducted. Former member UNC Greensboro won the first seven regular season titles, with Methodist University staking claim to 18 of the 25 championships since. North Carolina Wesleyan has captured one of those crowns, claiming a co-championship with the Monarchs in 2012.

Below are the names and a brief summary of accolades for those Battling Bishops named to the 50th Anniversary Team. On behalf of the Department of Athletics, we congratulate each of these women on this noteworthy recognition.

  • Jenna Gollub (3-Time All-Conference, 3-Time MVP)
  • Kristin Seidel (3-Time All-Conference, '12 USAS Championship Team)
  • Samia Kacher (4-Time All-Conference, 3-Time MVP, '12 USAS Championship Team)
  • Tori Jones (2-Time All-Conference, NCWC record for doubles wins, '12 USAS Championship Team)
