Bishops Claim First Tournament Title and NCAA Berth

Rocky Mount, N.C. - The 2015 USA South Women's Tennis Tournament concluded on Sunday, April 19, with top-seeded N.C. Wesleyan claiming the program's first championship and NCAA berth. The Battling Bishops swept 2nd-seeded Methodist 9-0 to earn the title. NCWC had previously turned in a 5-0 victory over 4th-seeded Meredith in Saturday's rain-shortened semifinal.

At the #4 singles and #3 doubles positions, Wesleyan's Valeria Berber was undefeated in the tourney with four total wins en route to earning Most Valuable Player honors. She was joined on the All-Tournament team by sophomore Natalia Lopez, freshman Rachel Hui and freshman Sofia Gonzalez. Those four players, along with freshmen Maria Fernanda Orona and Sofia Prado, all went undefeated on the weekend.
