ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - The N.C. Wesleyan College tennis teams won two exciting duals against a tough Div. II opponent, Mount Olive University, on Tuesday afternoon at home. The men edged UMO 5-4 while the women won a thrilling #1 doubles bout to take the close win, 5-4 as well.

The women were led by freshman Fariza Abdulloeva as she teamed with sophomore Talitha Rowan to win an exciting #1 doubles bout, 8-7 (9-7 in the tiebreaker) while also routing her foe in #1 singles 6-1, 6-2.

The #3 doubles team of junior Nicole Halabi and sophomore Giuila Zanetti won 8-3 as well as Wesleyan led 2-1 after the doubles was complete. Leading the ladies in singles wins other than Fariza was sophomore Julianna Johnson at #5 singles and senior Stephany Barbera at #6. Johnson won her bout 6-2, 6-2 while Barbera won 3-6, 6-3, 6-0.

The women improve to 2-0 on the season while UMO drops to 2-4. The women are next in action next week over spring break down in Orlando where they will face five opponents from March 3-8. They begin with D-1 ECU on Sunday.
