Women's Tennis Defeats Chowan 7-2

MURFREESBORO, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan College women's tennis team defeated another Div. II foe on Tuesday edging Chowan University (N.C.) 5-2 on the road.

The women were led by the doubles duos of sophomore Giulia Zanetti and junior Nicole Halabi at #1 doubles and freshman Fariza Abdulloeva and sophomore Julianna Johnson at #2 doubles. Zanetti/Halabi won easily 6-1 while Abdulloeva/Johnson won 7-5 to clinch the doubles points.

 In singles, Wesleyan was led by 12th ranked and current USA South Rookie of the Week Fariza Abdulloeva as she won 6-4, 6-3 at the 1 line. Halabi also won a three-set bout at #4 singles 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 while sophomore Ana Aguilar won 6-0, 6-0 at #5 singles. Johnson then lost a tough match at #3 singles falling 5-7, 6-2, 6-10.

The Lady Bishops improve to 6-4 overall and will next play conference foe Pfeiffer on Saturday at 2:00 PM.
