Lady Bishop Tennis Defeat #28 TCNJ

EWING, N.J. - The NC Wesleyan College women's tennis team pulled off a big win on the road Sunday as they defeated 28th ranked College of New Jersey 7-2 for their first win over a nationally-ranked program in school history.

The women started the match with impressive doubles wins at the first and third lines as the top team of freshmen Fariza Abdulloeva and Milena Amedieva would go on to win 8-3 while the #3 team of sophomore Giulia Zanetti and junior Nicole Halabi won 8-4 to give the Lady Bishops a 2-1 lead after doubles. 

Abdulloeva then continued her consistent play by defeating the 25th ranked player in the Northeast Region 6-1, 6-2 on Sunday before Amedieva won 6-3, 6-2 at #2 singles. Zanetti then clinched the match win for the Bishops at #3 singles as she won 6-3, 6-3. Sophomore Julianna Johnson then kept up the wins as she won 6-3, 6-3 at #4 singles as well. Senior Stephany Barbera then capped the wins for the Bishops at #5 singles winning 6-0, 6-2.

The Lady Bishops improve to 9-4 overall while TCNJ falls to 13-4. The women return to action on Wednesday to play at Meredith College at 4 PM.
