Tennis Cruises Past Salem

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan College women's tennis team cruised past conference foe Salem College 9-0 at home on Scalf Courts Wednesday afternoon.

The women were led by the doubles pairs of freshmen #1 Fariza Abdulloeva/Milena Amedieva and #3 Giulia Zanetti/Nicole Halabi as both pairs won 8-0 each. The #2 doubles team of senior Stephany Barbera and sophomore Julianna Johnson also won 8-1 as the Ladies swept the doubles.

In singles, 12th ranked Abdulloeva had the closest match winning 6-1, 6-1 at the top singles line while Amedieva (#2), Johnson (#3), Halabi (#4), Barbera (#5) and sophomore Ana Aguilar all won 6-0, 6-0 to finish out the match.

The Lady Bishops improve to  12-4 overall and 7-0 in the USA South with one more match to play while Salem drops to 5-10 overall and 2-5 in conference,

The women are back in action on Friday when they play at Greensboro College at 12:00 PM.
