NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The NC Wesleyan College women's tennis team competed against CNU on Saturday in their fall season opener and fell 5-4 in the mock dual scrimmage with the Lady Captains.
Winning singles matches for the Lady Bishops was freshman Kristal Dule 6-3, 6-3, sophomore Elisa Mariotti winning 6-3, 6-4 and freshman Eleonora Rescia 6-2, 6-2. Dule and Rescia also teamed up to win a doubles match 8-5.
"We had some outstanding results in the mock dual vs. CNU," commented head coach Albie Brice. "The big takeaway for the women is that Dule and Rescia could potentially really shake things up at the national level for us while second semester freshmen Mariotti and Schoorsmans made significant contributions this past weekend as well."
The women return to action next weekend at the Methodist Fall Invitational.
