Stewart's 11 Kills Not Enough, Bishops Swept at VWC

Virginia Beach, Va. - Freshman Victoria Stewart's 11 kills were not enough on Wednesday night as her N.C. Wesleyan volleyball team suffered a 3-0 sweep on the road at Virginia Wesleyan. Set scores were 25-23, 25-19 and 25-18.

Tied 22-22 in the first set, the Marlins tallied two of their final three points on a pair of costly Bishop serving errors to take a pivotal 1-0 lead in the match. VWC (4-1) used that momentum for forge early leads in the second and third sets, and NCWC would not recover en route to the sweep.

Bishop sophomore Kayla White dished out 12 assists on the evening, while Stewart, Beth Bradham and Christina Huber notched seven seven digs apiece.

Wesleyan (0-3) returns to action this Friday and Saturday with a four-match tournament at Johns Hopkins University. Play begins on Friday at 4:00pm when the Bishops take on Goucher College.
