Bishops Tally First League Win with Sweep of MBC

Raleigh, N.C. - Behind a team-high 11 kills by freshman Tori Stewart, the Battling Bishop volleyball squad picked up its first USA South win of the season on Saturday afternoon with a 3-0 sweep of Mary Baldwin College in Raleigh. Set scores were 25-17, 25-17 and 25-22.

The Bishops racked up 30 kills in the match, as senior Taylor Johnson chipped in eight and freshman Beth Bradham four. Sophomore Kayla White dished out 23 assists and completed her first double-double of the season with 10 digs.

Earlier in the day, Wesleyan dropped a 3-0 decision to Greensboro College. Stewart again paced the Bishops with 14 kills, while White notched 21 assists. Set scores were 25-10, 25-19 and 25-15.

Saturday's league split followed a conference-opening sweep at William Peace University on Wednesday. The Pacers racked up 40 kills to the Bishops' 13 on the night en route to their first league win of the season.

Wesleyan (2-9, 1-2 USA South) travels to Mary Washington for a non-conference match on Tuesday before returning to Rocky Mount for their home opener versus league foe Meredith College on Wednesday. Both matches are slated for 7:00pm starts.
