Johnson Paces Bishop Volleyball in League Split

Raleigh, N.C. - Senior Taylor Johnson turned in a match-high 14 kills and four service aces to help her Battling Bishop volleyball squad to a 3-1 win over Ferrum College on Saturday at William Peace University. The victory came on the heels of a 3-0 loss to Averett University earlier in the day.

Versus Ferrum, set scores were 25-16, 25-14, 19-25 and 25-23. Wesleyan racked up 48 kills as a team, compared to just 37 for the Panthers.

In addition to Johnson, freshmen Evie Hunter and Beth Bradham turned in eight kills apiece, while sophomore Kayla White dished out 34 assists. Defensively, libero Christina Huber had a match-high 25 digs.

Against Averett, set scores were 25-20, 25-12 and 25-17. Freshman Tori Stewart managed a team-high nine kills.

Wesleyan (6-21, 5-11 USA South) returns home on Wednesday night to host USA South rival Methodist University on Senior Night. The match is slated for a 7:00pm start in Everett Gym.
