Volleyball Wraps Up Season with Sweep of Pacers

Rocky Mount, N.C. - N.C. Wesleyan's volleyball team wrapped up its 2013 season on Sunday afternoon in Everett Gymnasium, hosting a USA South Play Day with Piedmont College and William Peace University. The Battling Bishops suffered a 3-0 loss to the Lions in their first match before rebounding with a 3-0 sweep of their own versus the Pacers. Playing their final match for the Blue & Gold, seniors Taylor Johnson and Heather Hunter paced NCWC with eight kills and nine digs, respectively.

Versus Piedmont, set scores were 25-15, 25-12 and 25-11 in favor of the Lions. Johnson and freshman teammate Tori Stewart tallied nine kills apiece, while sophomore Kayla White notched 18 assists and Christina Huber 11 digs.

Against WPU, set scores were 25-16, 25-22 and 25-14 in favor of the Bishops. In addition to Johnson and Hunter's play, White finished with a double-double of 23 assists and 14 digs, and freshman Alani Wiggins recorded a match-high six blocks. As a team, the Bishops tallied nine total blocks and eight service aces to secure the win.

Wesleyan ends the season with an 8-22 overall record and 7-12 mark in conference play.
