Bishop Volleyball drops Match vs. Peace

RALEIGH, N.C.- The N.C. Wesleyan College volleyball team returned from their midseason break due to Hurricane Florence on Thursday to open their USA South Conference season on the road at William Peace University, but could not pick up the win falling in three sets (17-25, 17-25, 9-25).

The Bishops played well in the first set hitting .200 as a team with 8 kills, but Peace was a bit better hitting .367 with 13 kills. The Lady Bishops then totaled more kills than the Pacers in the second set, 13-12, but made more errors in falling 25-17. Wesleyan was no match for Peace in the third set, unfortunately, totaling just 6 kills to Peace's 12.

Freshman RS Sydney Barnwell led the way with 7 kills on just one error to hit .370 while fellow freshman OH Bijou Patel had 6 kills with just one error and a block assist hitting .385. Junior Setter Haileigh Riesenbeck also led with 15 assists while freshman libero Devin Lassiter had 14 digs and an ace. Junior middle Hannah Thrasher also hit .364 with 5 kills and a block in the loss.

NCWC falls to 4-7 overall while Peace improves to 6-3. The Bishops finally return home Saturday to host Averett University (Va.) in a conference match inside Everett Gym starting at 2 PM.
