Lady Bishops Hire Assistant Volleyball Coach

NC Wesleyan head volleyball coach, Vicky Gentile, has announced the hiring of a new assistant coach, Cory Soble, of Rochester, NY.

Soble comes to the Bishops from Div. III Millsaps College in Mississippi where he has coached for the past two seasons. While at Millsaps, Soble helped the Majors to their winningest season since 2014, where he coached 6 All-conference players and 30 members of the SAA Conference honor roll.

"Since first meeting the players and hearing their drive and desire to make an impact, I knew North Carolina Wesleyan had a team I wanted to be a part of," said Soble. "Coach Gentile has laid the foundation for what can be a top-rate program in a deep conference, and I'm excited to work with her and the culture she's cultivated so far to help reach those goals."

Before Millsaps, Soble was an assistant coach for the girls' volleyball team at the Whitfield School outside of St. Louis, Missouri. While there, he helped the team win its first district championship in four years and advance to the state tournament sectional semifinals. Soble also coached with the boys' program at Webster Groves High School where he helped the team reach the state quarterfinals in 2014 and was a staff member and coach at ELITE Volleyball Club.

Cory has worked with the USA High Performance program as a court coach and evaluator since 2016.

A native of Rochester, NY, Soble is a 2016 graduate of Webster University with a bachelor's degree in education studies, where he was able to present research on long-term athletic development at Webster University's Research Across Disciplines conference in the fall of 2015.

Soble attended Saint Louis University before transferring, where he played as a Middle Hitter for their NCVF DII men's team.
