Raleigh, N.C. - North Carolina Wesleyan's cross country team was back in action on Friday afternoon competing in the Adidas Invitational, a 5K race hosted by N.C. State University at Wake Med Soccer Park. Sophomore Neryzza Calo once again paced the Bishops with a team-best time of 26:14.8, which was 44 seconds faster than her performance in last week's season-opener.
Also competing for the Bishops were Connor Wright (26:49.9) and Carolyn Finney (29:56.0), who combined to shave nearly five minutes of their week one times. First-year runners Sha'Tori Brown, Alexandria Turner and Charnell Jones finished their first career races, helping the Bishops secure their first team score of the season.
Wesleyan will take the course once again next Saturday at the Greensboro Classic, a 5K race held at Hagan Stone Park.
