Wesleyan Runners Improve at Greensboro XC Classic

Pleasant Garden, N.C. - The women's cross country team of N.C. Wesleyan took to the course again on Saturday at the Greensboro Cross Country Classic held at Hagan Stone Park. Despite a 12th-place finish, the Bishops showed marked improvement by shaving over four minutes off their team time from last weekend's Adidas Invitational.

For a third straight week, sophomore Neryzza Calo paced the Bishops with a team-best time of 25:48 in the 5K event. Freshman Maria Fernanda Orona was not far behind with a time of 27:17, while senior Connor Wright turned in a sub-30 time of 28:18.

Also finishing for the Bishops were sophomores Carolyn Finney (30:40) and Charnell Jones (37:20). The event featured 106 runners from 12 institutions entered in the college division.

Wesleyan will run a pair of races next week, beginning with a 3K dual at Methodist University on Tuesday and ending with the 5K Hagan Stone Classic on Saturday in Pleasant Garden.
