Fayetteville, N.C. - The USA South Athletic Conference has released its 2014 preseason coaches' poll for baseball, with North Carolina Wesleyan earning a second-place billing. The Battling Bishops, under the direction of veteran head coach Charlie Long, received two first-place votes and finished just four points behind preseason favorite Covenant College. The Scots received three first-place votes and 67 points overall.
NCWC is looking to build on a 2013 campaign that saw the Bishop post a 15-9 record in conference place and second-place regular season finish. Long returns 37 players from that squad, including eight position starters. Leading the way is sophomore Ciro Norzagaray, who earned First Team All-Conference honors last season.
Wesleyan's 2014 campaign gets underway on Saturday, February 8th when the Bishops host Eastern Mennonite University at 2:00pm.
