Diamond Bishops Split with Pride, Fall at Lynchburg

Rocky Mount, N.C. / Lynchburg, Va. - North Carolina Wesleyan's baseball team turned in a two-game split with USA South foe Greensboro College on Monday afternoon at Bauer Field, taking the opener by a 10-1 score before falling 8-0 in the nightcap. The Bishops then traveled to Lynchburg College on Tuesday and forged a late 10-6 lead, only to see the Hornets put up eight runs in their final at-bat to steal the come-from-behind win.

In the Greensboro victory, senior Will Beasley took a no-hitter into the bottom of the sixth inning before the Pride broke through with a trio of singles.  It would be the only three hits of the contest for GC, and Beasley would go on to toss eight complete for his first win of the season. Senior Daniel Carroll wrapped up the contest by throwing a scoreless ninth.

Tuesday began with freshman hurler Spencer Ramsey being named to the D3Baseball.com Team of the Week after his stellar one-hit shutout of Mitchell College last Thursday. The Bishops went on to find life offensively with 10 runs on 12 hits versus Lynchburg. Unfortunately, the Hornets' eight-run explosion in the eighth erased Wesleyan's attempt a fifth win.

NCWC returns to action at home this weekend when the Bishops host a three-game set with USA South foe Ferrum College at Bauer Field. Saturday's twinbill is slated for a 12:00 noon start.
