Pair of Bishops Garner ABCA and D3Baseball All-Region Honors

Rocky Mount, N.C. - The American Baseball Coaches Association and D3Baseball.com released their All-South Region teams this week, and N.C. Wesleyan had two players garner accolades. Ciro Norzagaray was a Second Team honoree by both organizations, while fellow senior James Lovett earned Second Team honors from D3Baseball.com and Third Team recognition from the ABCA.

The two, who were named co-Most Valuable Players for the Bishops this spring, combined to lead NCWC in nearly every offensive category, including batting average, hits, triples, homers, RBIs, total bases, and slugging percentage. For their efforts, both were USA South First Team All-Conference selections this season.

Norzagaray completed a stellar four-year career and graduated as a four-time All-Conference selection, three-time MVP, and two-time All-Region honoree at shortstop. The Mexico City native turned in a team-best .403 batting average in USA South play, blasting four homers and driving in 30 runs while posting a 1.86 ERA on the mound.

Lovett, who hails from West Palm Beach, Florida, turned in a career-best senior season en route to the second All-Conference nod of his Bishop tenure. Primarily serving as Wesleyan's designated hitter, he blasted a conference-best 10 homeruns and led Wesleyan with 39 RBIs on the year.

Congrats to both Ciro and James on this much-deserved recognition!
