ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - Senior 1B Trey Croom helped lead the NC Wesleyan Baseball team to a conference series win over Greensboro College 7-2 in Rocky Mount Sunday.

He crushed a third inning three-run home run to left field to give the Bishops a 3-1 lead that they would not relinquish. It was his 2nd home run of the season and of the week as he finished 2 for 4 on the day.

DH Jackson Murray drove in the next run for the Bishops in the 5th on an error by the Pride to give Wesleyan a 4-1 lead while senior CF Cedrick Kornegay then increased the advantage to four runs with his sacrifice fly in the 6th. Senior catcher Brandon Wheat then followed that with an RBI single to make it 6-1.

Wesleyan would finish their scoring with another RBI single, this time from senior LF Logan Andrews in the 7th inning. Wesleyan had four players with multi-hit games as part of their 13-hit attack including a 3 for 5 day from junior 2B Brad Pennington while Wheat, Croom, and Andrews all recorded two hits apiece. Kornegay and Andrews also hit doubles as well on the day.

Sophomore pitcher Drew Tubb led the Bishops on the mound as he threw 5 and 1/3 innings allowing just one run on 8 hits with 3 strikeouts to get the win improving to 2-0 with a 3.26 ERA. Sophomore reliever KEvin Williams also threw 2 and 2/3 innings in solid relief of Tubb allowing just 2 hits and one run with 2 Ks while senior Nate Gardner also pitched a scoreless ninth.

NC Wesleyan improves to 12-6 overall and 5-3 in the conference with the series win while Greensboro falls to 3-11 and 3-5 in the conference.

The Bishops return to action on Tuesday afternoon at Noon to host non-conference foe Maine-Presque Isle in a weekday doubleheader.
