ASHLAND, Va. - The NC Wesleyan College baseball team fell 8-7 in 10 innings to Randolph-Macon College (Va.) in non-conference road action on Thursday.

Wesleyan rallied from 4 runs down in the 8th inning to tie the game at 7 with senior Trey Croom's two-run homer and fellow senior Logan Andrews' two-run single. Unfortunately, a leadoff solo home run by RMC in the 10th clinched the win for the Yellow Jackets.

NCWC previously got out to a 3-2 lead in the third inning on a two-run triple from senior 1B Nate Gardner that scored Croom and Cedrick Kornegay who had singled. Gardner drove in the first Bishop run with a groundout in the first inning as well.

Kornegay (.382) finished the day 3 for 4 with a stolen base and a double while every member of the Bishop lineup reached base as well with nine different Bishops collecting hits in the game. Croom's home run was his third of the season while he now has 21 RBIs and is hitting .330.

NC Wesleyan used 6 pitchers in the game including getting shutout innings from Chris Sullivan and freshman Grant Bartlett. Junior Galen Beaver started the game for the Bishops and allowed 5 hits and 3 runs with 2 walks over 3 innings. Reliever Connor Stratton then came on in relief but also allowed 3 runs over 2 innings with a strikeout. Junior 2B/P Brad Pennington then came on in the 9th and pitched a scoreless inning before allowing the game-winning home run in the 10th to suffer the hard-luck loss.

Wesleyan falls to 18-9 with the loss while RMC improves to 13-5. The Bishops finally return home on Saturday and Sunday to host rival Averett (Va.) in a conference series. First pitch is set for Noon Saturday.
