#9 Baseball Drops High-Scoring Game with Peace 16-12

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - The 9th ranked NC Wesleyan College baseball team fell 16-12 to William Peace in a high-scoring non-conference game From a windy Bauer Field on Wednesday afternoon.

Some highlights included senior RF Alec Titmus' two-run home run in the 5th inning, as well as freshman 1B Jackson Hobbs' two-run single as part of a five-run fifth inning when the Bishops trimmed their deficit from 8-1 to 8-6.

Peace then built their lead back up again to 16-7 heading into the 9th when Wesleyan again put up a 5-spot in the inning as they made a valiant effort to comeback. SS Nate Hibbs began the scoring in the 9th with a two-run single driving in seniors Titmus and 3B Trey Posilero. Senior catcher Brad Pennington's two-run double to center then made it 16-11 before Hobbs' single finsihed it off at 16-12.

Sophomore pitcher Alex Crosby got the start for the Bishops, but picked up the loss tossing 3 and 1/3 innings allowing 6 runs on 6 hits with 6 walks and a strikeout. Relievers Zach Woolard, Chandler Padgett, and seniors Robby Casey, Mike Smith, and Chris Day all threw at least one inning each with Day throwing the only scoreless frame.

Titmus led the offense with 3 hits while CF Drifton Padgett, Hobbs, and Pennington also all recorded two hits apiece.

The Bishops fall to 23-6 with the loss while Peace improves to 19-13.

#9 Wesleyan will remain home to host Averett University in a conference DH on Friday at Noon from Bauer Field.
