NC Wesleyan University junior second basemen Davie Morgan was named a Fourth Team All-American by D3baseball.com on Wednesday.
"Being named an All-American is very surreal. It's definitely not something that was on my radar at the beginning of the season," said Morgan on learning that he became an All-American. "I want to give all of the credit to my teammates and the coaching staff at NC Wesleyan. They push me to become the best teammate, person, and player that I can be every single day."
"I think the key for me this season was learning how to deal with failure and turn it into something positive," Morgan continued. "I wasn't so focused on results at the plate, but rather the process and the game-plan that would allow me to have success. I want to thank my family for always supporting me over my career through the good and bad times and inspiring me to strive for greatness. Lastly, I want to thank God for giving me the talent to play this game and allowing me to be successful."
"What an honor," exclaimed head coach Greg Clifton. "We are extremely happy and proud for Davie and our program. He has been a workhorse for us since he arrived on campus!"
Morgan led the team in hits with 72, runs with 64, and doubles with 18 while hit an impressive .407 on the year with 8 homers, 45 RBIs, and stole 11 bases. He helped lead the Bishops to their second straight East Division Championship and another runner-up conference finish overall.
