Rocky Mount, N.C. - In just his 20th career game, sophomore linebacker Tazmon Foster broke North Carolina Wesleyan's career tackles record with the 217th of his career in the first half, but it would not be enough as the Bishops saw their 2011 season come to an end with a 28-7 loss to visiting Shenandoah University on Saturday. Foster went on to tally ten more takedowns on the day to raise his record-breaking season total to 129 and career total to 227.

Prior to the game, head coach Mark Henninger recognized the nine members of his 2011 senior class: Keith Blunt, Jarret Coffield, Josh Meeks, Marcus Wright, Kordarius Brown, Javon Boddie, Adrian White, Kevin Quicker and Erick Higginbotham.

Shenandoah (6-4, 5-2 USA South) took a 21-0 lead into the half thanks to a pair of touchdown catches by Rico Wallace and a 2-yard scoring run by quarterback Daniel Wright. The Hornets managed over 300 yards of offense before the break.

Wesleyan quarterback John Jackson looked to get the Bishops back in the game when he led a 8-play, 73-yard scoring drive to open the third quarter. The drive was capped by a 31-yard TD catch by Coffield. Quicker's PAT made the score 21-7 early in the half.

The Bishops proceeded to intercept Wright on the Hornets' next possession, but a pair of sacks forced NCWC to punt, breaking the momentum that had somewhat shifted to the Blue & Gold. Shenandoah put to rest any thoughts of a comeback by taking the ball quickly down the field for the Hornets' fourth score, a 1-yard run by Wright.

Neither team would put up any points in the final 15 minutes of play for the 28-7 final.

In addition to Foster's 16, Boddie added 10 takedowns and an interception. Other seniors getting in on the defensive action included Blunt with five tackles and a blocked punt, as well as White with four tackles and one TFL. Offensively, Meeks relieved Jackson in the fourth quarter, going 4-of-6 for 39 yards.

For SU, Wright threw for 307 yards, while Wallace finished with 154 receiving yards. The Hornet defense held Wesleyan to just 153 total yards of offense on the day.

The Blue & Gold finish the season with a 2-8 overall record, which includes a 2-5 mark in USA South play.
