Football's Foster named BSN Division III All-American

Rocky Mount, N.C. - With the football awards season coming to a close, North Carolina Wesleyan is pleased to announce that sophomore linebacker Tazmon Foster has been named a Second Team All-American by BSN (Beyond Sports Network). Foster, who also garnered Second Team All-South Region accolades by D3Football.com, recently completed one of the most impressive defensive seasons in Blue & Gold football history.

Foster, a Henderson, N.C. native, compiled a program-record 129 total tackles this past season and led all USA South linebackers with 16.5 tackles-for-loss and five sacks en route to being named the league's Defensive Player of the Year. Foster's amassed 73 solo tackles and 56 assisted takedowns, while adding one interception, one pass break-up, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. Additionally, Foster broke Wesleyan's career record for tackles in the Bishops' season finale. He currently boasts 227 takedowns over his two-year career.

Foster wasn't the only Bishop to earn additional postseason honors. Junior cornerback Dwayne Hollis was tabbed a Third Team All-Region selection by D3Football.com, while also garnering Honorable Mention All-American status by BSN at kick returner. A Newport News, Va. native, Hollis was a USA South First Team pick at both defensive back and return specialist, becoming the first player in Wesleyan history to garner such honors at two different positions. Statistically, Hollis managed 43 tackles and a team-high seven pass break-ups on the season, while return-wise, he racked up 538 yards and a touchdown. Finally, in the classroom, the All-American was named to the 2011-12 Capital One Academic All-District Team. 

Additionally, senior Kevin Quicker joined Hollis as a BSN Honorable Mention All-American punter. The Potomac, Md. product had previously picked up two All-Conference nods as a First Team punter and Second Team kicker. He averaged nearly 40 yards per punt this season, while connecting on 11 field goals and 19 extra points.
