Football's Wes Thompson Earns Academic Honor

Rocky Mount, N.C. - The 2012 Capital One Academic All-District® Football Teams, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America, have been released to recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. North Carolina Wesleyan is pleased to announce that junior linebacker Wesley Thompson was honored as a District 5 selection.

The Academic All-District ® teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. Nominees must have been a starter or an important reserve for his team, while maintaining at least a 3.3 GPA or higher in the classroom.

A Business Administration major, Thompson far-exceeded the criteria as a two-time member of NCWC's President's List and a USA South Academic All-Conference honoree. On the field, Thompson tallied 42 tackles this season, including 6.5 tackles-for-loss, which ranked second on the team. Additionally, the Smithfield, N.C. native forced one fumble.

The NCWC Department of Athletics congratulates Wes on a job well done!
